MCDANIEL WINS WITH EASE DURING NUTEX CONCEPTS NIGHT AT HMS

(Hickory, N.C. – July 30, 2011) – A brief rain shower halted the events at Hickory Motor Speedway during NuTex Concepts Night, but racing resumed and the No. 12 of Austin McDaniel went on to score his second victory of the season. The No. 11 of Matt Piercy took home the checkered flag for the Limited Late Model division while Clint Fields (Super Trucks), Roger Pitts II (Street Stocks) and Todd Harrington (WrenchRag 4-Cylinders) also won in their respective divisions.

The No. 12 of Austin McDaniel won the Bojangles Late Model race with ease. After relinquishing the lead to the No. 43 of Jesse LeFevers on the first lap, McDaniel quickly took back the lead on lap two. The front runners settled into position while the No. 57 of Grant Wimbish moved through the field from fifth, battling the No. 5 of Dexter Canipe Jr. throughout the night for third. On lap 43 Wimbish looked to the inside of Canipe Jr., finally making the pass. His time in third was short-lived however, as Canipe Jr. quickly retook the position on lap 47. Austin McDaniel scored the victory with Jesse LeFevers in second and Dexter Canipe Jr. in third.

The No. 11 of Matt Piercy led the race from the start and never looked back. Behind the top four cars, it was side-by-side battles for fifth and seventh positions. The No. 12 of Annabeth Barnes looked to the inside of the No. 07 of Tyler Church, taking over fifth on lap 12. Meanwhile the No. 18 of Casey Pierce made the pass for seventh with the No. 15 of Sheflon Clay in eighth. Coming off of his first win of the season last weekend, the No. 90 of Pietro Fittipaldi was not content sitting in third. Fittipaldi gained ground on the No. 8 of Mark McIntosh in second, catching up to his back bumper and finally surging past him on lap 32. Matt Piercy finished first with Pietro Fittipaldi in second and Mark McIntosh in third.

The No. 16 of Clint Fields continued to dominate the Super Truck division, scoring yet another victory this season. The No. 28 of Jason Crouse pressured Fields off and on throughout the night. Crouse made a last lap charge for the lead, but was unable to make the pass leaving Clint Fields the winner. Tyler Hudson finished third with Jeremy Birch in fourth.

The No. 21 of Roger Pitts II took the checkered flag after leading the Street Stocks race uncontested. The race ran smoothly with the only battle of the night taking place between the No. 17 of Baron Kuritzky and the No. 64 of Marshall Sutton for the fifth position. Kuritizky looked to the inside of Sutton, finally making the pass on lap 19. The No. 51 of John Jones used this to his advantage, quickly passing Sutton for sixth. Roger Pitts II won the race followed by the No. 22 of Dan Moore in second and the No. 03 of Kevin Eby in third.

The No. 21 of Todd Harrington was a man on a mission in the WrenchRag 4-Cylinders race. After starting fourth, he quickly moved through the field, picking off the drivers in front of him one by one. A caution on lap 11 briefly halted his run to the front as the No. 6 of Caleb Sisk spun coming out of turn four. Using the restart to his advantage Harrington jumped to first, leaving Levan in second as the field settled into line behind them. The pace car hit the track again on lap 18 as the No. 3 of Donnie Harmon spun in turn four bringing out another caution. Once again Harrington had a great restart, quickly putting distance between his car and the rest of the field. Harrington went on to take the victory with Chandler Levan in second and Vincent Campbell in third.

Racing action continues next week at “America's Most Famous Short Track” with Advance Auto Parts Night at the Races. The event will include a 100-lap Bojangles Late Model feature and Twin-25 races for the Limited Late Models. Also making appearances are the Street Stocks, WrenchRag 4-Cylinder's and the Hobby Stocks.
