Bassett Goes Two-For-Two During Red Roof Inn Night at the Races

(Newton, NC - - August 26, 2014) Dillon Bassett had the chance to celebrate Victory Lane not once but twice Saturday night after winning both of the twin 50-lap features for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Bojangles' Late Models. Casey Pierce (No. 18 - Gold King Limited Late Model), Ben Ebling (No. 22 - Street Stock) and Darren Dickenson (No. 6 - WrenchRags Renegades) also earned the chance to celebrate in Victory Lane as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series hit the track for Red Roof Inn Night at the Races.

The No. 9 of William Byron started from the pole position for the first of two twin 50-lap features for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Bojangles' Late Models. The No. 00 of Shane Lee didn't waste any time jumping to the early lead on the first lap. Lee held off multiple challenges from the No. 88 of Josh Berry, until Berry took over the top spot on lap 24. Just as Berry, moved out front, the No. 44 of Dillon Bassett added himself to the mix in the battle for the top position and moved out front on lap 25. Bassett survived several laps of three-wide racing that ensued between Berry, Bassett and Lee during the final laps and held off the competition to pick up the win. Berry came home second, Lee third the No. 7 of Ashley Huffman fourth and the No. 36 of Anthony Anders rounded out the top five.

Bret Holmes, driver of the No. 5 Late Model, led the field to green for the second 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series Bojangles' Late Model feature event and immediately received pressure from the No. 88 of Josh Berry. Holmes and Berry ran nose to tail during the early laps as the remainder of the field began to spread out. The No. 44 of Dillon Bassett worked his way toward the front of the field after starting near the rear, settling into the top five within the first 15 laps. As Bassett was coming through the field, Berry took over the lead just before the second caution of the night waved for debris on lap 22. As green-flag racing resumed, Bassett moved into third and slowly inched his way forward during the closing laps. Bassett used the restart following a lap 43 caution period to his advantage taking the lead on the restart. Bassett went on to pick up the win leaving the No. 00 of Shane Lee, Berry the No. 12 of Austin McDaniel and the No. 5 of Chandler LeVan to round out the top five.

Casey Pierce (No. 18) led the field to green in the Gold King Limited Late Model event, and slowly pulled away from the competition to the lead over second place by lap 10. Back in the field, the No. 13 of Mark Johnson and the No. 21 of Monty Cox battled for the second-place position, with Cox taking over the spot by lap 15. The No. 51 of Jeremy Pelfrey used Cox's momentum to pull alongside Johnson and began a battle for third. With five laps remaining, the battle for third had turned into a four-car competition between Johnson, Pelfrey the No. 7 of Taylor Stricklin and the No. 1 Trent Barnes. Pierce went on to pick up the win. Cox, Johnson, Stricklin and Barnes finished second through fifth, respectively.

The No. 22 of Ben Ebeling picked up the pole position for the 30-lap Street Stock event. Ebeling led the field around the short track as the No. 3 of Chase Pollard held off the No. 03 of Kevin Eby for the second position. As Ebeling continued to lead, the No. 64 of Marshall Sutton worked his way into the third position, taking the spot form Eby. Ebeling went on to lead the entire caution-free event with Pollard, Sutton, Eby and the No. 5 of Larry Mosher rounding out the top five.

The No. 8 of Kenneth Roberts brought the field to green for the 20-lap WrenchRags Renegades event. Roberts survived multiple early-race cautions to remain out front of the field and fought off several challenges by the No. 6 of Darren Dickenson during the first portion of the race. The two continued to battle side-by-side for the win until the final lap when Dickenson pulled out front picking up the victory. Roberts finished second, while the No. 4 of Greg Austin, the No. 77 of Shawn Hayes and the No. 22 of Daniel Moore completed the top five.
