“32 nd ANNUAL BOBBY ISAAC MEMORIAL BRINGS TOGETHER LEGENDS”

Newton, NC………..Hickory Motor Speedway is proud to announce the program for the 32 nd annual “Bobby Isaac Memorial 200 Presented by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet” Scheduled for Labor Day Monday, September 1 st , the event brings together three “Legends of Motorsports”: Bobby Isaac, Dale Earnhardt, and Hickory Motor Speedway.
Isaac, from nearby Catawba, NC, is legendary in motorsports. He started his racing career at Hickory Motor Speedway and went on to win NASCAR's highest honor in 1970: the Winston Cup Championship. He is a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, Alabama, and set 28 world speed records, many of which stand to this day.
Dale Earnhardt, from Kannapolis, NC, also learned his trade in the early days of racing at Hickory Motor Speedway and other area short-tracks, and went on the become 7-time NASCAR Winston Cup Champion. He, too, is a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. The Chevrolet dealership that he and his wife, Teresa, founded is in Newton, NC, and continues to support short-track racing and racers.
Hickory Motor Speedway holds legendary status among the nation's racetracks, and after 58 consecutive seasons of short-track excitement, has become known as “The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars!” for all the drivers, crews, and officials who made their start at the track and went on to much success in racing.
The first “Bobby Isaac Memorial 200” was held in October 1977, the same year that Isaac passed away. He is buried in Catawba Memorial Park, overlooking the speedway where he started his career and raced his final race.
Each year, The Bobby Isaac Memorial 200 is one of the most prestigious wins among Late Model Stock Cars throughout the country. The winner receives at least $4,000, a specially commissioned, one-of-a-kind crystal trophy, and serious bragging rights.
Also racing on Labor Day Monday will be the Street Stocks Division in a special 50-lap event.
An On-Track Autograph Session with the Late Model Stocks drivers is scheduled for 4pm, to allow fans to meet the drivers and the drivers to make new friends and fans. Many of the race teams bring autograph cards, candy, and goodies for the kids. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 4:30pm, followed by the Main Event at 5pm.
Ticket prices for the Special Event will be $15 Adults, $10 Teens&Seniors, $5 Kids 7-12, and age 6 & under free. Family Passes will be available for $40, and will admit 2 adults and their children under age 16.
